Scam Check
Container scams are one of the most-reported Marketplace frauds — fake sellers use stolen photos of real containers, collect a deposit, and vanish. Run every seller through this list before money moves.
🚩 Price far below market. Compare against the 2026 price table. A "one-trip 20ft for $900 delivered" does not exist.
🚩 Payment by Zelle, Venmo, Cash App, wire, or crypto only. Legitimate dealers take credit cards — which give you chargeback protection.
🚩 Pressure to "secure it today." Real yards hold units with a signed quote, not a countdown.
🚩 Can't visit a yard or see the exact unit. Refusal of inspection, or only stock photos, is a classic tell. Reverse-image-search their photos — stolen ones show up on other sellers' sites.
🚩 Generic Gmail address, no reviews, new website, borrowed address. Scammers have impersonated real companies using look-alike email domains. Verify the phone number from the company's own website, not the ad.
Call your bank or card company immediately and ask about a chargeback or freeze. Save screenshots, texts, and receipts, and report it at reportfraud.ftc.gov and ic3.gov. If a scammer used a real company's name, tell that company — they track these.
